Agat Polissia is a variety of yellow lupine recommended for cultivation in Polissian conditions. It is characterized by high yield: grain reaches 2.0–2.5 t/ha, and green mass – 60.0–70.0 t/ha. The vegetative period is 95–100 days, with the plant growing quickly and being resistant to fusarium, spring frosts, and lodging. Pods do not shatter or drop, ensuring ease of harvest.
The variety is distinguished by high protein content – up to 40% in grain, as well as low levels of alkaloids (up to 0.03% in grain, 0.01% in green mass), which makes it a safe and valuable feed without the need for thermal processing. The mass of 1000 seeds is 110–120 g, and the seed color is mottled with dark ornamentation in the form of a crescent.
Agat Polissia is widely used as a fodder and green manure crop. Due to its high nitrogen-fixing ability, it forms green mass up to 50–65 t/ha, increasing soil fertility and ensuring a sustainable humus balance. This allows improving feed quality and reducing the cost of animal husbandry products. Fast growth, high resistance to adverse conditions, and rich protein content make this variety in demand both in agriculture and in circular farming systems.
