Alfalfa FLORA 5

Siberian Resilience: The Flora 5 Alfalfa Advantage

Flora 5 is an alfalfa variety developed by the Omsk Agrarian Research Center and the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. Designed specifically for challenging agricultural zones, this variety prioritizes survival and consistent forage quality over aggressive, risky growth. With a plant height of 65–70 cm, Flora 5 is engineered to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations that typically cause yield loss in less hardy varieties.

Key Operational Strengths

The primary advantage of Flora 5 lies in its rapid regrowth post-harvest. This efficiency allows farmers to maximize the number of cuts per season, even in regions with short growing periods. Unlike many intensive hybrids that struggle after a single severe winter, Flora 5 maintains high density and vigor, minimizing the need for expensive reseeding.

• Superior Nutritional Profile: Optimized leaf-to-stem ratio ensures high protein content.
• Winter Hardiness: Exceptional tolerance to harsh winters, ensuring a long-lasting stand.
• Disease Resistance: Built-in resilience to common alfalfa pathogens, reducing chemical input costs.

Why Choose Flora 5?

Flora 5 is designed for producers who demand reliability. While its height is modest (65–70 cm), it makes up for this with a compact, dense structure that produces high-quality haylage. It is not the choice for farmers seeking record-breaking heights in ideal climates, but rather for those who operate in high-risk zones where consistent, year-after-year performance is the most important factor in profitability. By investing in Flora 5, an operation reduces the risk of crop failure, ensuring a stable supply of nutrient-rich protein for livestock throughout the season.
