DescriptionDETER 1
DETER 1 – an early-maturing variety of white lupin (Lupinus albus L.), intended for both grain and green fodder production. The crop is characterized by high resistance to pod cracking and seed shattering on the plant, as well as moderate resistance to fusarium. The vegetative period lasts 100‑110 days, allowing it to be used as a predecessor for winter wheat even in the northern parts of the Central Black Earth region.
The variety features a determinate growth type: leaves fall off at maturity, while pods remain exposed, simplifying cultivation and harvesting technology. Thanks to high plant density (80‑90 plants/m²) at a sowing rate of 1.2 million viable seeds/ha, yield reaches 46 c/ha; at lower density, it ranges from 33‑42 c/ha. Thousand-seed weight is 320 g, average grain yield is 32.2 c/ha, and green mass yield is 510 c/ha.
Raw protein content in DETER 1 seeds is stable at around 37‑38%, while fat content is approximately 10%. These indicators make white lupin competitive compared to soybeans, providing high protein content at lower production costs and higher yields. The crop also shows drought resistance to both soil and air, tolerates frost down to -5 °C, and leaves fall off, reducing losses from seed shattering.
DETER 1 can be sown in both conventional row and wide-row modes (inter-row width 45 cm), offering flexibility in crop planning. At increased plant density, the number of seeds per plant remains almost unchanged, while thousand-seed weight decreases by only 8%. This makes the variety particularly suitable for intensive grain and fodder production in the Central Black Earth and Middle Volga regions.
