The «Snigur» variety is a high-protein lupine, intended for fodder use. It contains up to 38% protein and about 10% oil in the grain, which provides high biological value of feed and promotes soil fertility due to the plant's nitrogen-fixing ability. Due to its low alkaloid content (up to 0.03%) and high resistance to fusarium and spring frosts, «Snigur» easily fits into agricultural cycles of various regions. Seed yield in the Polissya zone reaches 2.8 t/ha, and in the Forest-Steppe zone – up to 3.5 t/ha; green mass ranges from 4.5 t/ha to more than 10 t/ha, which makes it competitive both for grain and green feed.
The plants of «Snigur» are distinguished by their high growth height – about 75–80 cm – and a short growing season (105–115 days). The flowers are light purple with a blue-black tip, which adds decorative value when used as a green manure crop. Seeds have white color and round-angular shape; the weight of 1000 seeds is 290–310 g. These parameters ensure ease of harvesting and processing, as well as high protein yield per hectare.
For optimal growth, «Snigur» requires a sunny location and slightly alkaline or slightly acidic soil. Top dressing with complex mineral fertilizers with a high content of potassium and phosphorus, as well as regular watering during the active growing phase, contribute to rapid root development and increase yields. Due to its resistance to diseases and cold, this variety is a reliable choice for farmers looking for an effective fodder crop with a high protein content and low toxin levels.
