The reed oat variety "Sura" is a high-yielding and technologically advanced material intended for hay and silage production. Plants reach a height of 120-130 cm, have an erect stem and strong stems, which ensures resistance to lodging and pests. The variety is characterized by medium to early maturity: first cut - 34-45 days, second - 32-38 days, third - 28-35 days; seed maturity period - 89-102 days.
Green mass yield can reach 580 centners per hectare (dry matter - 114 c/ha), and seed quantity - up to 4.0 c/ha. With nitrogen fertilizers applied in the range of 90-150 kg/ha, yield increases, and crude protein content in dry matter reaches 18-20%. Fiber exceeds 28-30%, which makes "Sura" a valuable feed material for livestock of all kinds.
The variety is distinguished by high technological efficiency: it responds well to nitrogen fertilization, irrigation, and is suitable for both irrigated meadows and cultivation on gray forest soils and chernozem. "Sura" is resistant to rust and ergot (1-2%) and is considered one of the most durable grasses - crops can last 10-12 years. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is widely used in grain bread, hay, and silage production, and is valued for the high nutritional value of feeds.
