Festuca (Festuca) – a perennial grass growing from 10 to 120 cm tall, widely used in landscape design and lawns. The plant features a dense root system of underground shoots, rough or hairy leaves up to 1.5 cm wide. Thanks to its resistance to hot, dry conditions and good drainage, Festuca grows easily on loose, light soils with low humus content.
Festuca prefers sunny areas for cultivation; the plant tolerates summer heat well and can even thrive in cold drafts. Care for the crop is simple: remove withered leaves in early spring and trim the inflorescence after flowering to the level of the foliage. Festuca withstands winter conditions, making it ideal for sports lawns and decorative gardens.
Festuca varieties are valued as a forage crop: meadow and reed types possess high forage qualities and salt tolerance. Reed Festuca is often used in coastal gardens and as seeding material for sports lawns. Oat seeds (Starlet, Finlon, Serebryanka, Losinka) differ in high yield and resistance to adverse climatic conditions, ensuring a stable output of grain oats for livestock feeding and seedling production.
