Fescue RAISING STAR

Betting on endurance: why choose Rising Star

In the forage crop segment, the tall fescue variety Rising Star from the Danish breeding giant DLF occupies the niche of a reliable workhorse for intensive livestock farming. The main problem with many forage grasses is their vulnerability to fungal diseases and moisture fluctuations. The originator, Dlf Seeds A/S, focused on genetic resistance, creating a culture that maintains productivity even under stressful conditions.

Key advantages

• Natural immunity: Rising Star demonstrates high resistance to Fusarium, which significantly reduces the risk of crop contamination by mycotoxins. For a farmer, this means feed safety and long-lasting stands.
• Development dynamics: Under standard agrotechnological conditions, seedlings emerge within 7–10 days. This germination speed allows the crop to quickly occupy space, suppressing weeds at early stages.
• Nutritional value: As a forage crop, this variety is valued for the stable chemical composition of its green mass, suitable for both haylage and direct grazing.

Who is this variety for?

Rising Star is an optimal solution for farms operating on heavy, waterlogged soils or in regions with unstable climates. Due to the fibrous and deep root system characteristic of tall fescue, the variety withstands temporary waterlogging and summer drought perfectly, staying green when other grasses dry out.

It is important to understand: this variety requires proper management intensity. To unlock its yield potential, timely mowing is essential. Unlike soft cereal grasses, tall fescue becomes coarse faster, so delaying harvest can reduce palatability for livestock. It is ideal for farms practicing the creation of long-term, high-stocking-rate pastures.
