Raising Star is a highly efficient variety of carob grain plant, suitable for sowing in spring and autumn seasons. The seeds are characterized by high germination rate: 70-80% within 7-10 days at temperatures from +5°C to +15°C, as well as resistance to cold and moderate drought. Under optimal conditions, yield reaches 4-5 tons/hectare, making it an attractive choice for commercial cultivation.
The variety is distinguished by good fertility and resistance to major fungal diseases - 'pine' (Fusarium), 'grey' and 'green' (rust). Genetic markers enhance plant resistance, and seed moisture of 13-15% ensures long-term storage up to 12 months at temperatures 4-8 °C. To achieve maximum yield, pre-soaking of seeds for 12-24 hours and sowing at a depth of 2-3 cm in fertile, well-drained soil with pH 6-7.5 is recommended.
Plant care is simple: after germination, regular watering and nitrogen fertilization are required. Combined NPK 10-20-10 fertilizers and mulching contribute to yield increase. Seeds can also be used as feed grain, adding it to animal diets. Due to its versatility, Raising Star is suitable both for commercial carob grain cultivation and as ornamental grass or cover crop for pastures.
