Bluegrass CARPET

Engineering the perfect turf: The «Kover» variety

Developed by the breeders at RosNIISK «Rossorgo», the «Kover» variety is the result of dedicated efforts to enhance the resilience of Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) against extreme stress. Unlike many imported alternatives, this variety is specifically adapted to regions with significant temperature fluctuations, making it a strategic choice for long-lasting turf solutions.

Morphological traits and durability

The standout feature of «Kover» is its deep, dark-green leaf color, maintained throughout the entire growing season. From a physiological standpoint, this indicates high photosynthetic efficiency and optimal chlorophyll content, which directly influences recovery rates following mechanical damage.

• High Phytosanitary Resistance: The genetic architecture of the variety ensures resistance to common turf pathogens, minimizing the need for extensive chemical interventions.
• Universal Application Profile: The variety demonstrates excellent adaptability for both high-intensity sports use and private landscape design projects.
• Dense Turf Formation: Optimized tiller development allows the grass to quickly close gaps and suppress weed growth without the constant use of herbicides.

The scientific expertise of FGBNU «RosNIISK «Rossorgo» (originators: V. I. Zhuzhukin, S. A. Zaitsev, N. A. Zhuzhukin) has resulted in a cultivar with highly predictable growth parameters. When proper irrigation and fertilization protocols are followed, «Kover» produces a uniform, dense surface capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic while maintaining high aesthetic quality.
