Fescue Relevant

Why Meadow Fescue 'Relewant' is a Top Choice for Intensive Farming

The 'Relewant' meadow fescue variety from Deutsche Saatveredelung is a go-to solution for farm owners prioritizing long-term stability in their forage base. In practice, the primary advantage of this variety is not just its yield peaks, but its remarkable endurance throughout years of heavy utilization.

Key Performance Indicators

• Rapid Regrowth: Relewant demonstrates reliable recovery after both first and second cuts. Even under drought stress, it maintains its vegetative mass, which is a major advantage when managing a tight harvesting schedule.
• Feed Quality: The leaves are soft and palatable, ensuring high intake by livestock.
• Winter Hardiness: The German breeding quality shines here—winterkill is minimal. The fescue starts growing early in the season, allowing for an earlier first cut compared to most standard grasses.

Agronomic Best Practices

This variety works exceptionally well in mixtures with legumes such as clover or alfalfa. When planting, it is best suited for heavier, moisture-retentive soils where it can express its full potential. Once established, it creates a robust sward that remains productive for many years without the need for constant overseeding or costly restorative measures.

Maintenance is straightforward: timely nitrogen application following cuts and weed control during the establishment year are sufficient. In all other respects, it is a low-maintenance, economically efficient crop that provides consistent value for modern forage production.
