LOBNENSKAYA 24 is a winter oat (Avena sativa) variety developed within Russian breeding programs and intended for cultivation in temperate climates. Seeds are characterized by large size, light-yellow color, and high germination up to 80%. Under optimal conditions, yield reaches 10–12 t/h+ha, and under more favorable factors can exceed 15 t/h+ha. High biological value of grain (12–14% protein) makes it in demand as feed grain for large livestock and a component of the food industry – oatmeal, bread, cereals.
Key agronomic parameters include sowing in the spring or autumn period (1–2 weeks after the end of the vegetative period), at soil temperature from +5 °C. Loosening and removal of weeds before planting, as well as the application of complex fertilizers are recommended: nitrogen 120–150 kg/h+ha, phosphorus 80–100 kg/h+ha, potassium 40–60 kg/h+ha in early spring and after the first crop. Irrigation up to 50 mm/h+week during the active growth period ensures moderate water needs. Protection from diseases is carried out by applying fungicides (e.g., propamocarb) and antiseptics; the variety is resistant to powdery scab, powdery mildew, and some viral infections.
LOBNENSKAYA 24 is distinguished by good resistance to adverse climatic conditions: it withstands moderate frosts and also endures periodic droughts. High hay yield (up to 60–70 t/h+ha) and green mass (450–500 kg/h+ha) make it suitable for use in agro-landscapes as a pasture plant and soil improvement means. With proper care, plants reach a height of 60–80 cm, forming a dense cover that promotes soil stabilization and increased fertility.
