Ryegrass LENINGRADSKIY 809

A Universal Solution for Northern Regions

The «Leningradsky 809» ryegrass is a breeding product tailored to specific climatic conditions where a combination of high nutritional value for livestock and aesthetic durability for landscaping is required. Unlike many southern varieties, this cultivar demonstrates exceptional adaptability to cool climates and variable moisture levels.

Agronomic Profile and Growth Characteristics

The plant is categorized as medium-height (40–70 cm), making it convenient for managing both pasture lands and recreational areas. Key features include:

• Dual Purpose: The variety functions effectively both as a forage crop that recovers quickly after grazing and as a dense turf grass for lawns.
• Pasture Resilience: Due to its structure, the variety withstands intensive use well, rapidly regenerating green biomass.
• Climatic Hardiness: The selection by the A.G. Lorch Federal Potato Research Center was specifically aimed at creating a crop capable of maintaining decorative qualities and nutritional value in moderate and cold climates.

Who Is This Choice For?

«Leningradsky 809» is an optimal solution for farms practicing pasture-based livestock management in northern latitudes, where obtaining vitamin-rich green fodder quickly is crucial. Simultaneously, it is suitable for landscaping areas that require a wear-resistant ground cover without the need for complex maintenance typical of exotic lawn mixtures.

A potential drawback of the variety is the need to manage mowing height — delaying the first cut can reduce the overall tenderness of the foliage, which is critical for high-quality haylage. However, when grazing or mowing schedules are maintained, the culture demonstrates excellent productivity.
