Festuca arundinensis 'DARINA' is a decorative grass species known for its compact height ranging from 20 to 60 cm and a dense, compact clump featuring narrow leaves of a bluish-grey shade. The leaves possess a thin tubular structure and a metallic luster, giving the plant a characteristic 'metallic' appearance. Small white flowers, gathered in dense inflorescences, appear in spring and persist until autumn.
The variety exhibits high drought resistance: rolled-up leaves reduce water evaporation, while compact growth conserves moisture. It serves excellently as a living hedge or divider in garden compositions due to its dense clump, and also as a cover for small areas, pathways, and walkways thanks to its thick foliage.
Care for Festuca arundinensis 'DARINA' is straightforward: the plant prefers bright sun but can also grow in partial shade; optimal soil is light, sandy, and well-drained. It is necessary to remove withered leaves in spring and trim the panicle after flowering. Moist conditions may promote fungal diseases, however, pests usually do not pose a serious threat.
