Demetra is a high-yield hybrid of oat specifically developed for optimal climatic conditions with a growth temperature of 18 to 22 °C. The variety is characterized by its resistance to diseases and pests: it is well protected against powdery mildew and soil rots, and also demonstrates good tolerance to drought and low temperatures during sowing. Thanks to proper fertilization, yield can reach 4.5 tons per hectare.
Demetra oat grain is characterized by its high content of protein and starch, making it a valuable raw material for industrial production of flour and bread. The fertile seedling reaches a height of 30–40 cm in young age, and leaf width is 5–7 cm. Stem color – bright green, texture is soft, which facilitates processing.
For growing Demetra oat, it is recommended to sow seeds at the end of March–beginning of April at a soil temperature of 15 to 20 °C. Plants grow well both in open fields and in greenhouses where good drainage and regular watering are provided. After 2–3 years of growth, plants bear fruits with high yield, which can be used for further production.
The variety shows moderate sensitivity to leaf rust, but with proper care and timely application of protective measures, this risk is minimized. Overall, Demetra oat is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high yield and quality grain under moderate climatic conditions.
