Fainlon is a hybrid oatgrass specifically developed for cultivation in the moderately continental climate of Russia. The variety boasts a high yield potential of up to 12–14 t/ha under optimal agronomic conditions and features an average plant height of 120–140 cm. Dense stems provide good resistance to mechanical damage, while the groat grain material contains 13–15% protein and starch, making it a valuable feed product.
The variety exhibits excellent adaptation to the climate: drought-resistant, cold-hardy, and moisture-tolerant. It is protected from major diseases: low susceptibility to fungal diseases (Puccinia graminis), moderate resistance to souring rot (Sporobolus), and immunity to smut (Ustilagium). Recommended sowing in spring or autumn at a seeding rate of 20–25 kg/ha allows for two harvests per year with proper care.
Fainlon is widely used as feed grain for cattle, as well as raw material for flour and cereal production. Thanks to its high nutritional value and resilience to adverse conditions, the variety ensures a reliable feed source even in complex climatic conditions.
