Kalee – a perennial ornamental grass plant growing from 30 to 60 cm in height, distinguished by its compact growth and resilience to various climatic conditions. The leaves are narrow, light-blue shades with a thin grey-green tint, 5–8 cm long; they resemble moss and retain their color even in winter. From June to July, spikelet inflorescences appear, swaying in the wind over the bush, creating a picturesque effect.
The plant prefers sunny, dry places with well-drained soil, does not tolerate excess moisture and drafts. It grows ideally in sandy, clay, and rocky soils at pH 6–7, as well as on areas with minimal humus content. Care for 'Kalee' is simple: moderate watering, especially during dry periods; fertilize once a year (in winter) with a weak nitrogen-based product. After flowering, it is recommended to cut off the top to maintain dense growth and shape.
The plant's advantages include low maintenance requirements, longevity, and self-seeding, making it an ideal choice as a lawn material, border plant, element of rock gardens, rockeries, or containers. Thanks to its bright blue shades and drought and over-wetting resistance, 'Kalee' easily fits into any landscape project, from open ground to pot compositions.
