Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V.Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Year of inclusion in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine — 2002, recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine.
Trial characteristics: variety erythrospermum. Ear is spindle-shaped, medium length (8-9 cm) and density. Grain is red, medium size, egg-shaped. After vernalization, a strong waxy coating is observed on the upper internode and a weak one on the ear. Glume is medium-sized, oval, shoulder narrow, slightly raised, glume tooth large, medium-narrowed.
Biological features: medium-maturing, medium-height (plant height 85-90 cm), resistant to lodging, with enhanced winter hardiness — 7.5 points. Characterized by high tillering and forms a dense productive stem. Shows high tolerance to root rots, Fusarium ear blight, and hard head rust. Affected weakly by brown rust and powdery mildew.
Agronomic characteristics: intensive-use variety. Potential yield 9.5 t/ha. 1000-grain weight 40-45 g. Yield in variety trials of the Institute of Plant Growing during 2000-2002 was 7.9-8.5 t/ha, at Volchanska Variety Station — 8.3-8.6 t/ha. In production conditions (KSP "Russia" Balakley district, OAO "Seed" Kegichev district, AF "Alpha" Zolochiv district) — 6.5-7.0 t/ha, DPAG "Askaniyskoe" Kherson region under irrigation — 8.9 t/ha. Baking properties are good: grain contains 13.5-14% protein, 27% gluten, flour strength 390 o.a., loaf volume from 100 g flour — 650 cm3, overall baking score 9.0 points.
Agronomic requirements: variety must be grown using intensive technology, best preceding crop is black fallow with optimal doses of mineral fertilizers. To achieve high yields, grain plants also require protection against pests using insecticides such as Danadim, Boray, and diseases using fungicides Folikur, Falcon, especially after heading. Seeds should be treated with fungicide in mixture with insecticide before sowing. Reaction to sowing dates is normal.
Sowing rate is 4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare on fallow, and 5.0 million for non-fallow preceding crops.
