Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Year of inclusion in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine — 2008, recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone.
Trial characteristics: variety lutescens. Ear of pyramidal shape, medium length and density (20-21 nodes per 10 cm of stem). Glumes have awns with serrations ranging from 2 mm in the lower part of the ear to 20-25 in the upper part. Grain is red, oval-shaped with a broad hairy awn. 1000-grain weight 46.0 g.
Biological features: medium-maturing, medium-height variety. Stem of medium thickness, 108 cm tall, strong and resistant to lodging. Glumes are not hairy. A weak waxy coating is observed on leaves during tillering. Winter hardiness is high, reaching 8 points under artificial freezing. Tolerant to powdery mildew, rust, scab, and septoria.
Agronomic characteristics: potential yield 10.0 t/ha. In the 2008 institute’s variety trial, it was 9.32 t/ha. Average yield in the forest-steppe zone in 2008 was 7.3 t/ha, on the Belaya Tsaritsynskaya DSS — 9.1 t/ha, in 2012 at the technological plot of the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East NAAN, yield was 9.4 t/ha. Grain quality is high. Protein content 13–14%, gluten 27–28%, flour strength — 336 o.a., loaf volume from 100 g of flour — 690 ml.
Agronomic requirements: variety of universal use, not demanding of growing conditions, recommended for cultivation after non-oilseed predecessors. When grown, it requires a system of plant protection against diseases and pests. Seeds must be treated with a fungicide in combination with an insecticide before sowing. Recommended for use under forced late sowing.
Forms stable, high yields after predecessors such as sunflower and grasses.
Seed sowing rate is 4.5 million germinable seeds per hectare after fallow, and 5.0 million after non-fallow predecessors.
Variety characteristics: exceptionally winter-hardy variety, one of the best in Ukraine for this trait. Recommended for sowing after poor predecessors and under forced late sowing.
