EN Albireo is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) characterized by intermediate maturity and high plasticity. The plants are medium-sized, 78–85 cm tall, with enhanced adaptability to various agro-climatic conditions. The variety is distinguished by high frost and winter hardiness, as well as resistance to lodging, which ensures stable yields even under complex weather conditions. The recommended sowing period is the first or second week of September, with a sowing rate of 400 to 500 seeds per square meter depending on the sowing time.
The potential yield of the variety reaches 120 c/ha, while in individual regions, such as the Kursk region, maximum figures may reach 117 c/ha. EN Albireo well reveals its potential when using intensive cultivation technologies, including the application of nitrogen fertilizers at a rate of 90–100 kg/ha of active substance and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers based on agrochemical studies. The variety exhibits high drought resistance and is suitable for cultivation in the Central Black-earth region.
In terms of grain quality, EN Albireo meets the indicators of strong wheats, with a gluten content of up to 28.5%, which makes it suitable for baking use. The variety is resistant to major diseases such as powdery mildew, solid smut, and brown rust, and also possesses medium resistance to septoria, Fusarium head blight, and snow mold. For plant protection, seed treatment with a fungicide and insecticide is recommended, as well as two fungicide treatments during the growing season, with the frequency of insecticide applications depending on the number of pests.
