Tulip Prior

Focus on Durability: The «Prior» Tulip in Commercial Production

The «Triumph» tulip class remains the gold standard for industrial forcing and landscape design. The «Prior» hybrid is the preferred choice for growers who prioritize risk mitigation during the growing season. Its primary value for a farming business lies in its genetic resistance to a complex of pathogens that typically deplete the margins of bulb producers.

Agrotechnical Advantages

Under intensive cultivation conditions, «Prior» demonstrates high tolerance to the most damaging diseases:

• Fusarium root rot and Fusarium head blight;
• Septoria;
• Wheat leaf rust;
• Powdery mildew.

This inherent immunity allows for reduced fungicide applications, lowering production costs and simplifying plantation management. For an agronomist, this translates into a predictable yield of commercial-grade bulbs and a lower rejection rate of planting material.

Practical Application and Market Performance

With its mid-season blooming window, «Prior» occupies a highly demanded niche in the floral market. The variety is characterized by high plant height, which is critical for cut flower production—a sturdy stem and long peduncle ensure a premium appearance in bouquets. The vibrant palette, featuring rich red and orange petals, makes it a top seller during the spring season.

Growers utilize this hybrid both for greenhouse forcing and field production. Its high resistance to fungal infections makes it an excellent candidate for long-term flowerbeds where decorative quality must be maintained without constant phytosanitary monitoring.
