Tulip Frankfurt

Technical profile of the 'Frankfurt' tulip

Belonging to the Triumph class, 'Frankfurt' is a balanced genetic model designed for professional forcing and large-scale landscaping. Its architecture centers on a robust peduncle that effectively resists lodging, even during rapid development under greenhouse conditions.

Phytosanitary resistance

The selection process for this hybrid focused on minimizing the need for frequent fungicide applications. The plant's biological defense mechanism includes high resistance to major bulb pathogens:

• Powdery mildew: a dense leaf cuticle prevents mycelial penetration.
• Downy mildew (Peronospora): improved air circulation at the root collar and a specific cell sap composition hinder colonization by the pathogen.

This biological resilience provides a clear economic advantage, allowing farmers to reduce production costs through lower pesticide usage.

Morphological and operational characteristics

The visual standard of 'Frankfurt' is a classic, vibrant red goblet. Its mid-season flowering profile makes it a reliable asset for supply chains, bridging the gap between early and late-blooming varieties. The tall stem ensures excellent marketability for cut flowers, allowing for efficient packaging and floristic design without compromising petal integrity. The uniformity of the crop facilitates mechanized handling and consistent quality control.
