Tulip Slim Whitman

The Triumph Standard

The 'Slim Whitman' tulip is a distinguished member of the Triumph class, widely recognized for its robust performance and structural elegance. Named after the legendary country singer, this cultivar embodies the characteristics that make the Triumph group a staple in both commercial floriculture and landscape design: a strong stem, a classic goblet shape, and exceptional durability.

Color Profile and Botanical Traits

Visually, 'Slim Whitman' stands out due to its sophisticated color palette. The petals feature a unique blend of deep red and lilac hues, creating a saturated, almost iridescent effect in the spring sunlight. As a mid-season bloomer, it bridges the gap between early-flowering varieties and the later, more flamboyant types.

• Class: Triumph.

• Growth habit: Average height, providing structural balance.

Market Position and Use

In the horticultural market, 'Slim Whitman' is favored for its reliability. Growers appreciate it for its consistent performance in various soil types and its resistance to wind and rain, which often plague early spring gardens. It is an excellent choice for cut flower production, as the firm petals ensure a long vase life, maintaining its classic shape for an extended period.

For landscape professionals, this tulip serves as a focal point. Its mid-height stature makes it versatile for borders and bedding schemes. When paired with lighter, cream or white varieties, its dark, dramatic tones truly pop. 'Slim Whitman' remains a top-tier choice for those who value the intersection of classical floral architecture and deep, rich color palettes.
