Tulip Polo

Efficiency in Early Production

The Fosteriana tulip 'Polo' is a strategic choice for growers targeting the early spring market. As an early-flowering variety, it enables a quick production cycle, allowing greenhouses and field operations to capture high seasonal demand with its classic, vibrant red blooms.

Agronomic Resilience and Cost-Efficiency

For large-scale operations, 'Polo' is prized for its genetic robustness. This reduces the need for frequent chemical interventions and mitigates the risk of crop failure. The variety offers significant advantages in field management:

• Disease resistance: A high level of resistance to Alternaria and Fusarium wilt significantly minimizes bulb losses, ensuring a higher density of harvestable stems.
• Foliage health: Resistance to powdery mildew ensures the foliage remains pristine, which is crucial for overall quality and plant vigor.

Operational Scenarios

The medium height of 'Polo' makes it a highly versatile tool for commercial cultivation. It is perfectly suited for high-density forcing in containers as well as traditional field planting. Because the variety is predictable and follows a stable growth curve, it is favored by operations that rely on standardized labor inputs. Its sturdy stems and long-lasting blooms contribute to its excellent post-harvest shelf life, making it a reliable and profitable asset for wholesale and retail supply chains during the peak spring period.
