Nansen

The hybrid sugar beet NANSEN is a single-stemmed diploid hybrid on a sterile NZ-type base, included in the State Register. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Central Chernozem, North Caucasus, and Ural regions. The maturity group of the hybrid is medium-late. Over the years of testing, NANSEN has demonstrated high yield and quality indicators: average root yield reaches 551 centners per hectare, sugar content — 17.5%, and sugar harvest — 96.3 centners per hectare. The mass of one root is approximately 537 grams.

The hybrid is resistant to major sugar beet diseases. It shows very low infection rates to root rots, powdery mildew, and cercospora, as well as low susceptibility to root maggots. These characteristics make NANSEN a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality yields with minimal losses.

Sugar beet NANSEN is a warm-loving and heat-tolerant crop, with an optimal temperature for growth and development of 20-22°C, although photosynthesis proceeds effectively even at temperatures above 40°C. The plant is highly demanding of moisture, especially during the intensive root growth period in July-August. Thanks to its well-developed root system capable of absorbing water from depths up to 2.5 meters, the hybrid tolerates drought well. Seeds germinate at temperatures from +4 to +17°C, with emergence time depending on temperature and varying from 10 to 15 days. During the pre-harvest period, sugar beet can withstand frosts down to -5°C without damaging sugar accumulation.
