Beet sugar variety NOVELLA is a single-stemmed diploid hybrid of intensive type NZ, normal-sugar type, developed by Swiss breeders of Syngenta AG. The root has an oval-conical shape with a root penetration depth of 70–80%, ensuring good resistance and ease of harvesting. The leaves are dark green, medium-sized, with upright mid-rosette, which promotes efficient photosynthesis and plant development. Hybrid NOVELLA has high yield — up to 604 centners per hectare, with an average root mass of about 798 grams. Sugar content in the roots is 17.2%, ensuring high sugar harvest — up to 106 centners per hectare. Moreover, the content of pathogenic substances in beet is below average, positively affecting processing efficiency at sugar factories. NOVELLA exhibits high resistance to cercosporosis, allowing harvesting in mid and late periods without loss of accumulated sugar. The hybrid also shows weak root rot infection, moderate root-eating pest infection, and strong powdery mildew infection. Recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region, where it demonstrates stable yield and quality performance.
