Description MEZANZ
MEZANZ is a sugar beet hybrid intended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth and North Caucasus regions. It belongs to mid-late sweet varieties of the first generation with a single-shoot diploid type on a sterile NZ background. The plant is of medium height with a widely conical root of medium length, ensuring ease of harvesting and high product quality. The hybrid is characterized by high yields: in the Central Black Earth region it reaches 450 centners/hectare with 17.9% sugar content, and in the North Caucasus region — 612 centners/hectare with 16.9% sugar content. Sugar recovery is accordingly 81.4 and 103.8 centners/hectare, making MEZANZ a profitable choice for industrial sugar production.

The hybrid exhibits resistance to a number of diseases, significantly reducing crop losses. It is weakly affected by root rots and root nematodes, and very weakly by cercosporosis. Under certain conditions, medium infestation with cercosporosis and root nematodes is observed, as well as strong infestation with powdery mildew, which requires careful monitoring and timely plant protection. Root mass is about 729 grams, contributing to high productivity and ease of processing.

To successfully grow MEZANZ, it is necessary to follow agronomic recommendations: the optimal sowing method is dotted with 45 cm row spacing, with seeds placed one per row. Seed sowing depth depends on soil moisture and varies from 2 to 4 cm. The recommended sowing rate is 90–110 thousand seeds per hectare, taking into account losses during sowing and row closure. Proper soil preparation and ensuring sufficient moisture are key factors for obtaining a high and quality yield of sugar beet MEZANZ.
