Sugar beet Ochits'kyi

Working with the 'Okhtyrskyi' hybrid

When selecting sugar beet varieties from the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of the NAAS of Ukraine, 'Okhtyrskyi' stands out for its performance in local soil conditions. As a diploid hybrid of the normal (N) type, this variety shows consistent field behavior, which is critical for planning logistics during the harvest campaign.

Operational and cultivation specifics

• Sowing quality: The high germination energy of the diploid seeds ensures uniform emergence. This reduces the need for reseeding and simplifies the calibration of precision seeders.
• Stress resistance: 'Okhtyrskyi' is well-adapted to local climatic fluctuations. In the field, the hybrid demonstrates resistance to major foliar diseases, allowing for optimized fungicide application schedules.
• Harvesting efficiency: The root crops feature a uniform configuration, which significantly minimizes losses during mechanical harvesting. The ease of defoliation and minimal soil adhesion make harvester operation smoother, reducing wear on working parts and lowering fuel consumption per hectare.

Economic performance

For farm operators, 'Okhtyrskyi' represents a balance between sugar yield per hectare and overall cultivation efficiency. The hybrid does not require complex or exotic fertilization protocols, performing reliably under standard nutrient management systems. High yield potential combined with excellent sugar content makes it a predictable asset for producers focused on stable results while minimizing operational risks.
