Sugar beet Tisza

French Selection for High Sugar Yield

Sugar beet «Tiza» from the renowned French breeder Florimond-Desprez is a prime example of classic breeding adapting to the modern challenges of agribusiness. In an era where climate change exacerbates disease outbreaks, this hybrid has become a trusted tool for farmers looking to minimize crop losses without excessive fungicide reliance.

Defensive Barrier: How «Tiza» Resists Disease

The hybrid's reputation is built upon its robust resistance to a complex of pathogens. The primary focus is on managing Cercospora leaf spot, a significant threat to beet production capable of destroying foliage within weeks. Furthermore, «Tiza» demonstrates exceptional tolerance to powdery mildew and root rots. This innate defense allows the plant to maintain photosynthetic activity until harvest, which is critical for maximizing sugar accumulation.

Agronomic Profile and Root Shape

Morphologically, «Tiza» exhibits a distinct cylindrical-conical shape with medium-sized roots. This configuration is intentional: it ensures optimal development within the soil profile, facilitating mechanical harvesting and minimizing loss during lifting. The hybrid is characterized by high root uniformity, which streamlines both logistics and processing at sugar factories.

• Origin: France (Florimond-Desprez).
• Crop Type: Sugar Beet.
• Key Strengths: Comprehensive resistance to root rots and foliar fungal diseases.
• Harvesting Features: Ideal root shape compatible with most harvesting equipment.

Choosing «Tiza» is a strategy for stable yields. Within the Florimond-Desprez portfolio, this model serves as a reliable «workhorse,» delivering predictable, high-performance results even in fields with significant disease pressure.
