KSH 0 G 47 R is a variety of grain sorghum intended for grain and silage production. Sorghum is a member of the grass family with a powerful root system reaching up to 3 meters in depth, ensuring drought resistance and resilience to unfavorable conditions. Plants reach heights of 60 to 200 cm, have several stalks, and lanceolate leaves with pointed edges. The inflorescence is a panicle up to 60 cm long, while the grains are oval-shaped and red or pinkish in color. The vegetation period ranges from 115 to 140 days, allowing for effective use of the crop in various climate zones of Ukraine, especially in southern regions, the steppe, and forest-steppe zones. Seeds of KSH 0 G 47 R sorghum have a high yield potential: grain can reach 120 c/ha, and silage up to 900 c/ha, while actual yield is 32-38 c/ha. The grain is characterized by a 1000-grain weight of 28-30 g and contains a significant amount of nutrients: protein — 11%, fats — up to 4.5%, carbohydrates — 79%, of which starch accounts for 70%. The composition also includes B vitamins (B1, B2, B4, B5, B6, PP, N) and macro- and microelements such as potassium, calcium, silicon, magnesium, sodium, sulfur, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and copper. The caloric value of the grain is 323 kcal, making it a valuable food product for humans and feed for farm animals. Sorghum is widely used for the production of cereals, flour, and starch, as well as for harvesting hay and silage, which are comparable in quality to corn. To increase yield and reduce crop contamination, it is recommended to apply comprehensive weed control using soil and foliar herbicides. Studies have shown that such practice significantly reduces the number of weed plants and increases grain sorghum yield by 3-3.1 times compared to options without the use of protective measures. This makes the crop more profitable and resilient to unfavorable growing conditions, which is especially important for farmers seeking to obtain a stable and quality harvest.
