Sorghum ORANGE 160

Reliable feed production for short-growing seasons

Sorghum "Orange 160" from the N.I. Vavilov Research Institute (VIR) is a proven solution for farmers who prioritize consistency over complex cultivation requirements. Developed to excel in environments where the growing season is constrained, this variety provides a stable output of high-quality forage.

Key advantages for your farm

• Predictable maturity: With a growing season of 90–100 days, this variety ensures harvesting can be completed well before the first frost, eliminating the risks associated with late-maturing crops.
• Versatility: Whether you need high-quality hay or dense, nutrient-rich silage, this variety delivers consistent performance. Its foliage density is a key asset for dairy and livestock operations looking to maximize feed value.
• Regional adaptability: Unlike high-maintenance foreign hybrids that often struggle with soil variability, "Orange 160" is bred to perform reliably in local conditions with fewer inputs.

Is this the right choice for you?

"Orange 160" is the go-to for operations located in regions with demanding climates. If your goal is to minimize the risk of crop failure due to weather fluctuations, this variety acts as a buffer. It is particularly well-suited for farmers who prefer a balance between cost-efficiency and yield. While some high-intensity imported hybrids may boast higher green mass numbers, they often require heavy investment in fertilizers and precise climate windows. "Orange 160" offers resilience and peace of mind, ensuring that your winter feed stocks are secured without unnecessary reliance on expensive imported genetics.

In summary, it is a utilitarian, robust variety for professionals who value reliability and predictable performance in their forage production cycle.
