Kato hybrid sorghum is a mid-season grain sorghum variety certified to OECD standards. This hybrid is distinguished by its genetic stability and versatility, allowing its use for green mass, high-quality silage, grazing, grain, as well as for starch and alcohol production. The vegetation period ranges from 115 to 125 days, ensuring optimal maturation timing under various climatic conditions. The grain is dark brown with a protein content of approximately 13% and starch content of 72%, with a 1000-seed mass reaching 33 grams. Seeds are treated with the fungicide "Maxim XL", insecticide "Cruiser 600FS", and antidote "Concept III" for protection against diseases and pests.
The Kato hybrid is characterized by high yield potential: grain yield potential is 80-100 centners per hectare, and green mass yield is 600-650 centners per hectare. Plants reach a height of 1.8-2.0 meters, have productive tillering of 2-3, and demonstrate high resistance to diseases, drought, and lodging. Due to the tannin content in the grain and the high nutritional value of the forage, this variety is especially valued in livestock farming. The recommended seeding rate is 140-160 thousand seeds per hectare.
Kato sorghum is suitable for cultivation in a wide area, showing cold tolerance at the germination stage. Its versatility and high energy value make this hybrid a promising choice for farmers focused on obtaining quality grain and feedstock. Hybrid seeds are available for purchase, enabling timely planting planning and stable yields.
