Maize BarSik

Stability and Performance for Variable Climatic Zones

The «BarSyk» corn hybrid, developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Institute of Plant Production, is designed for farmers who prioritize yield stability over volatile experimental varieties. With an FAO rating of 240, this medium-early hybrid demonstrates excellent flexibility, making it a reliable choice for commercial grain production across diverse Ukrainian soil types.

Field Performance and Management

• Drought Tolerance: The hybrid is specifically bred to maintain its potential during water-deficit periods, particularly during the critical grain-filling phase, making it robust against the heat spikes common in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe regions.
• Harvesting Efficiency: With a plant height reaching 240–250 cm and strong stalk lodging resistance, «BarSyk» is well-suited for high-speed mechanized harvesting, minimizing field losses.
• Grain Dry-down: One of its core benefits is its rapid moisture loss at physiological maturity. This helps farmers save significantly on post-harvest drying costs.

Operational Strategy: «BarSyk» is a practical solution for farms that practice both conventional and minimum tillage. It offers strong resistance to common stalk rots and fusarium, reducing the need for aggressive fungicide applications. By choosing this hybrid, growers invest in domestic breeding that has been field-tested for reliability. Whether the goal is consistency in yield or optimizing the cost per hectare, this hybrid provides the necessary resilience to handle unpredictable weather cycles while delivering high-quality grain suitable for both local processing and export markets.
