The grain sorghum variety VERA is an early-maturing crop with a vegetation period from germination to full maturity of 87-93 days. The plants are low-growing, with heights ranging from 81 to 100 cm, featuring a uniform height and weak branching form. The grains are relatively large, with the mass of 1000 seeds varying from 25.4 to 35 g depending on the growing region. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to phytopathogens and plasticity, ensuring its adaptation to various conditions in the Middle Volga and Ural regions. Grain yield reaches 15.7 c/ha in the Middle Volga region and 19.2 c/ha in the Ural region, while the total plant biomass ranges from 14.5 to 17.0 t/ha.
The VERA variety grain is characterized by high content of nutrients: up to 12% crude protein, up to 79% starch, and 4% fat, making it universal for various applications. It is suitable for the food industry, including the production of flour, cereals, starch, and alcohol, as well as for feed purposes. The variety is easily harvested mechanized with standard grain combines, both separately and directly, which increases the efficiency of agro-technical measures.
