Sorghum variety ESAUUL is an early-maturing grain variety intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions of Russia. The vegetative period from germination to full maturity is about 97 days. The plant is of medium height with no or very weak anthocyanin pigmentation of the coleoptile and sheath of the first leaf. The panicle is symmetrical, medium length, loose or medium density, with a short or medium-length neck. The grain is white after maturation, round in profile and elliptical from the back, with a light-yellow endosperm. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 22.3 to 25.3 grams depending on the growing region. ESAUUL is characterized by high yield: in the North Caucasus region, the average figure is 28.7 c/ha with a maximum value of up to 44.2 c/ha, while in the Lower Volga region, the average yield reaches 19.9 c/ha with a maximum of up to 57.2 c/ha. The variety is resistant to infestation by dusty smut, bacterial blight, and cereal aphid damage, which ensures yield stability. Moreover, it is drought-resistant and has high plasticity, which allows successful cultivation under conditions of limited moisture. The ESAUUL variety is used not only for grain production but also for starch and alcohol production. It is also well eaten by agricultural animals and poultry, making it versatile in agriculture. The variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 2023 and is protected by a patent, which confirms its breeding quality and prospects for agricultural production.
