Rice Istok

High-Performance Rice with Disease Resilience

The 'Istok' rice variety, developed by the Federal Rice Research Center, is engineered for producers who prioritize yield stability and disease resistance. As a long-grain variety, 'Istok' stands out in the market due to its robust natural resistance to rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae), which is a critical factor for maintaining crop health and minimizing losses in intensive cultivation systems.

Key Agronomic Attributes

• Maturity: A mid-early variety with a growing cycle of 120–130 days, ensuring consistent maturation even in regions with shorter warm seasons.
• Yield Potential: Consistently delivers 7–8 tons per hectare, making it a highly profitable option for commercial operations.
• Field Performance: Exhibits strong resistance to common pests, which significantly reduces the need for frequent pesticide applications and optimizes operational costs.

Market Value and Culinary Quality

Beyond its agronomic merits, 'Istok' produces high-quality long-grain rice suitable for both milling and end-consumer use. It is widely preferred for making high-quality porridge and various rice dishes, as the grain retains its structure well after cooking. For agricultural businesses, 'Istok' offers a reliable path to high-quality production with lower biological risks. Its early ripening helps avoid late-season weather hazards, ensuring a stable, high-quality harvest that meets the demands of modern processing industries.
