Fagot rice variety is a high-yielding variety developed by the Ukrainian NAAN Rice Institute and recommended for cultivation in the steppe zone. The vegetative period of this variety is 112 days, ensuring early maturity of the harvest. A distinctive feature of the variety is its high grain yield — 67.4%, as well as high whole grain yield — 92.2%. The amylose content is 20.8%, and the amylopectin content reaches 100%. The thousand-grain weight is 31.6 grams, indicating large grain size. The potential yield of the Fagot variety reaches 9.2 tons per hectare, making it attractive for farmers. The Fagot variety is not only high-yielding but also possesses beneficial qualities of the grain. Due to the preservation of amino acids and proteins in the grain, this rice has additional nutritional value and health benefits. These characteristics make the variety in demand both in the domestic Ukrainian market and abroad. The Ukrainian NAAN Rice Institute successfully exported seeds of the Fagot variety to Kazakhstan, where rice cultivation area is approximately 100,000 hectares. A shipment of 40 tons of seeds, including the Fagot variety, became an important step in developing cooperation between Ukrainian and Kazakh farmers. High productivity and adaptability of the variety allow cultivation under various climatic conditions, expanding its application opportunities and promoting rice cultivation in the region.
