Leader

The "Leader" variety of rice was bred by Kazakhstani breeders at the I. Jakhayev Kazakh State Scientific Research Institute of Rice Breeding. This medium-maturing variety is characterized by a vegetation period of 120-125 days and high yield, reaching 79.2 centners per hectare. The rice has low broken grain rate, a compact bush, and a sturdy stem, which contributes to its stability and ease of cultivation. The average weight of 1000 grains is 30-31 grams, protein content is 9.9%, and amylose is 19.8%, which ensures good milling qualities of the grain.

The "Leader" variety is characterized by medium resistance to pyricularia - a common rice disease. This resistance is associated with increased silicon (SiO2) accumulation in floral hulls of the plant, reaching up to 19%, which is significantly higher than in unstable varieties. Studies have shown that the optimal plant density for the variety is 240-250 plants per square meter, while the level of mineral nutrition should be N120P100K50. With overcrowded plantings exceeding these indicators, plants form a weak root system and become more susceptible to diseases.

The "Leader" variety of rice is widely cultivated in the Kyzylorda Region of Kazakhstan and is suitable for cultivation under conditions providing optimal density and nutrition. Thanks to its characteristics, it is a promising variety for obtaining high-quality grain with good technological properties. This rice can be used for various purposes, including the production of rice and flour, which makes it a valuable agricultural product.
