Polesia Gift is a high-yield yellow lupine (Lupinus luteus) variety developed specifically for the conditions of Western Polesia, Ukraine. The crop is grown on light, loamy, and sandy soils, which are characteristic of the region, and is also well-adapted to clayey and slightly acidic soils. The variety has an average grain yield of about 1.85 t/ha in the nursery and a plant height in the range of 54–58 cm, which ensures convenient harvesting and processing.
The main advantages of Polesia Gift are a high level of resistance to diseases, including fusarium and viral narrowness (score 9–7 points), as well as the absence of alkalinity. This makes the variety safe for use as a fodder crop and reduces the risk of toxicity in products. Moreover, lupine actively fixes nitrogen in the soil due to symbiosis with bacteria on the roots, which increases soil fertility and promotes sustainable development of the agroecosystem.
In practical application, Polesia Gift is used as a grain-fodder crop. Its high fodder value and ability to increase biomass make it attractive for farmers who seek to increase the efficiency of protein and protein production. The crop is easily grown in groups or in windless areas, does not require frequent replanting, and coexists well with other crop species, such as raspberry or strawberry. Thus, this variety provides comprehensive benefits for agricultural enterprises in Polesia conditions.
