The 'Morshanskaya 1304' oat variety is a grain variety developed through individual and mass selection from a wild sample collected in the Kashma River floodplain. It is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, ensuring a stable yield even under unfavorable climatic conditions.
Seed yield ranges from 250–350 kg/ha, while crude protein content in the first cut hay is 10.2%. When dry matter is harvested on non-irrigated plots, the yield reaches 7.5–8.5 t/ha, and with irrigation, it increases to 10.5–11.0 t/ha. The variety is weakly affected by pests and resistant to typical oat diseases such as smut and powdery rust.
'Morshanskaya 1304' is suitable for hay meadows and pastures on floodplain meadows due to its high yield and good adaptation to moist and fertile soils. The variety is easily processed during mechanical harvesting, and its large seeds ensure high collection efficiency.
The variety has been available for use since 1952 and was widely used in central and northern regions, where its frost resistance and ability to withstand unfavorable conditions are valued.
