Bluegrass Sombrero

A Reliable Choice for High-Traffic Areas

Kentucky bluegrass 'Sombrero' by the Danish breeding giant DLF is the choice for professionals who need more than just a decorative lawn—they need a resilient turf for parks, private landscapes, and sports facilities. This variety is engineered for durability and rapid recovery after physical wear.

Key Operational Advantages

• High Disease Resistance: 'Sombrero' shows exceptional resistance to powdery mildew, which is critical in humid climates or areas with poor air circulation. This reduces the time and resources spent on fungicide applications.
• Deep Aesthetic Color: The dark green leaf color remains vibrant even with moderate maintenance, ensuring a tidy and professional appearance throughout the season.
• Versatile Application: The variety performs equally well as a component in landscape designs and as part of high-performance turf mixtures for sports zones.

Seeding Recommendations

To establish a dense turf stand, it is recommended to follow a seeding rate of 15–20 g/m². This density ensures optimal seedling establishment, where plants do not compete for nutrients while effectively choking out weeds. Thanks to DLF’s Danish breeding expertise, 'Sombrero' features excellent germination energy, reducing the time until the first mowing. It is the optimal choice if you require a high-quality surface that does not demand constant chemical treatments or excessive attention.
