Lipalma

Lipalma is a variety of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) widely used as lawn and decorative grass. The plant is of an upright type, reaching heights from 20 to 90 cm, with lanceolate-shaped leaves of a dark green hue. When fully in bloom, the plants develop medium leaf width (≈5–7 cm) and sturdy stems, providing resistance to mechanical loads.

The variety is distinguished by high germination: seeds germinate within 7–10 days at temperatures from 15 to 25 °C. After planting on soils with good drainage capability, Lipalma quickly forms a dense root layer, creating thick grass capable of withstanding loads from walking and machinery. The second annual inflorescence begins in the middle of the second year after sowing, while the plant maintains moderate height.

Lipalma is characterized by drought resistance, rust, and common diseases (rot, mold, helminthosporiosis). The yield of dry matter is 150–170 kg/ga, live – 90–110 kg/ga. The variety is suitable for planting at temperatures from 10 to 25 °C and is widely used in park lawns, sports fields, urban greening, as well as as a fodder crop on pastures. Seeds are sold in packages of 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 2.5 kg, and 5 kg.
