Orchard Grass Sparta

Crop Stability with Danish Breeding

Orchardgrass variety "Sparta" from the Danish breeding giant DLF is a choice for those who prioritize forage productivity over short-term seed cost savings. Unlike wild forms or non-specialized varieties, "Sparta" is designed as a tool for intensive grassland management where every single harvest counts.

Why does "Sparta" stand out in its class?

• Disease resistance: Its main advantage is high resistance to Mastigosporium leaf spot. This is critical for obtaining clean, high-quality silage without nutrient losses caused by fungal infections.
• Turf density: A dense tillering type ensures quick canopy closure. This not only suppresses weeds but also minimizes soil erosion under grazing conditions.
• Forage profile: The variety demonstrates predictable regrowth dynamics after mowing, which allows for precise forage harvesting schedule planning.

Who is this choice for? "Sparta" is ideal for livestock farms focused on establishing permanent cultural pastures or harvesting high-protein haylage. Due to its robustness, the variety adapts well to conditions where other forage crops might lose productivity due to climatic stresses or high infection pressure.

By working with Dlf Seeds A/S products, farmers gain more than just seeds; they benefit from years of Danish breeding expertise, meeting some of the most rigorous agricultural standards in Europe. It is a reliable solution for creating seed mixtures that require both resilience and intensive usage.
