Fescue Bornito

German Excellence in Turfgrass

Bornito sheep's fescue is a specialized variety from the renowned German breeding house Deutsche Saatveredelung. In the landscape design industry, this variety has carved out a niche as a low-growing, highly resilient grass, perfect for creating durable and aesthetically pleasing turf.

Agronomic Profile and Application

The primary appeal of 'Bornito' lies in its morphological consistency. Reaching a height of only 20–40 cm, it is an ideal selection for decorative landscaping where low maintenance and slow growth are required. Its intense green leaf color maintains visual appeal throughout the growing season, while the high density of the sward naturally suppresses weeds.

• Disease Resistance: The variety exhibits strong genetic resistance to downy mildew (peronospora), which significantly reduces the need for repeated fungicide applications.
• Seeding Recommendations: To achieve a dense, uniform carpet, a seeding rate of 30–40 g/m² is recommended.

DSV’s German breeding program is synonymous with meticulous selection standards, and 'Bornito' is a prime example of this expertise. This variety is not dependent on highly fertile soils, showcasing impressive adaptability. By choosing this variety, professionals and homeowners alike can minimize risks when establishing park lawns, rock gardens, or ornamental landscape compositions. It delivers a stable, high-quality result that meets rigorous European standards for professional turfgrass.
