Fescue Spartan

An Engineering Approach to Dense Turf Formation

The sheep fescue variety "Spartan" from the German breeding center Feldsaaten Freudenberger GmbH&Co.KG is a selection solution designed to create turf coverage with extreme resistance to mechanical stress. Unlike standard decorative mixtures, this variety possesses specific leaf morphology that determines its physical and technical performance.

Biological Markers of Reliability

The key feature of "Spartan" lies in its ability to adapt to nutrient-poor soils while maintaining a high level of tillering. Technically, this is achieved through a dense root system capable of effectively retaining moisture and nutrients in the top layer of the sod.

• Traffic Tolerance: A high rating ensures rapid recovery of vegetative mass after physical impact.
• Leaf Morphology: The fine, deep green texture creates a dense visual "carpet" that is resistant to thinning.
• Seeding Rate: The optimal consumption is 30-40 g/m², which, with proper agronomic practice, allows for a closed turf stand as early as the first season.

Practical Application

Selecting this variety is justified for areas with high usage intensity: private park zones, functional grounds, and territories where aesthetics must combine with longevity. The genetic purity of the material from Feldsaaten Freudenberger guarantees uniformity of the cover, minimizing the risk of "patchiness" in the lawn. Using "Spartan" is an investment in a biological resource that does not require frequent regeneration and is resistant to adverse abiotic factors.
