The Papировка apple variety is a popular early-fruiting variety of folk selection, widely distributed in Baltic countries. Medium-stature trees with a pyramidal crown that becomes more rounded with age. Fruit production begins on the 4th-5th year after planting; with proper care and enrichment of soil with organic fertilizers, yield is high and regular. Medium-thickness shoots with brown, hairy bark; leaves are egg-shaped, also hairy and medium-sized.
Fruits of the Papировка variety are medium-sized, usually weighing from 80 to 150 grams, round-conical in shape, with thin, smooth, dry skin. Fruit color varies from green-yellow to light green or white, without blush, sometimes with a whitish coating. Flesh is white, loose, coarse-grained, juicy and tender, with a slightly tart-sweet flavor and mild aroma. When overripe, the flesh becomes mealy and fruits drop quickly, therefore harvesting must be timely, usually in July–early August.
The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness and moderate resistance to fruit and leaf scab, requiring preventive treatments to maintain tree health. Apples are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for making purees, juices, and jams. Fruits can be stored in cool, well-ventilated rooms, but not more than 2 weeks, as prolonged storage reduces quality and appearance. Good pollinators include Gala, Red Delicious, Melba, Anis Alый, and Borovinka.
