Apple Starkrimson

Classic American breeding for modern orchards

Starkrimson is a legendary clone of the famous Red Delicious variety, which once marked a breakthrough in commercial pomology. Emerging in the mid-20th century, this variety quickly established itself as the global benchmark for the "red apple." Today, it remains a staple in orchards, valued for its iconic appearance and exceptional dessert qualities.

Agrotechnical profile

This medium-sized tree features a distinctive broad-pyramidal crown that requires regular pruning to manage, yet it responds exceptionally well to professional orchard management. As a winter variety, it is designed for long-term storage, maintaining firmness and flavor profiles well into spring, making it a reliable asset for commercial growers.

• Disease resistance: Breeders have achieved excellent resistance to apple scab, significantly reducing the need for intensive chemical treatments. The variety also displays moderate resistance to powdery mildew.
• Climate adaptability: With moderate winter hardiness, Starkrimson performs best in regions with temperate climates. In colder northern zones, it is recommended to plant in sites protected from harsh winds.

The market reputation of Starkrimson is built on its high commercial appeal: a vibrant, deep-red blush covering almost the entire surface of the fruit and crisp, firm flesh make it a favorite among fresh-market consumers. It is a proven choice for growers seeking decades-tested genetics with predictable, high-quality results.
