The 'Child' apple variety is a medium-sized tree with a drooping, dense, and rounded crown, reaching a height of up to 4 meters. The leaves are bright green, oblong, and the shoots are thin and arched. This variety was developed at the South-Ural Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing by crossing the 'Ural'skoe Nalivnoye' and 'Welsh' varieties, and is distinguished by high winter hardiness and early fruiting, beginning to bear fruit as early as the 4th-5th year after grafting. Fruiting is regular, with an average yield of about 34.7 kg per tree, which corresponds to approximately 19.3 tons per hectare. The 'Child' apple fruits have a round, slightly flattened-round shape with a weight from 74 to 135 grams, usually around 100 grams. The main color of the fruits is greenish-yellow or golden-green with a delicate red blush. The flesh is greenish, medium density, very juicy and tender, with a sweet and sour dessert taste. The chemical composition of the fruits includes 13.6% soluble dry matter, 11.8% sugars, 0.15% titratable acids, 16 mg/100 g of ascorbic acid, and 1.5% pectin substances. The fruits are of universal purpose, suitable for fresh consumption and storage, which can last up to 140 days under proper conditions. The 'Child' variety belongs to autumn varieties in terms of ripening, commercial maturity occurs in late August - early September. In years of epidemic phytos, the apple tree may be affected by scab, which should be taken into account in plant care and protection. Thanks to its taste qualities, high yield, and resistance to winter conditions, the 'Child' apple tree is a promising choice for growing in the Ural region and other areas with similar climatic conditions.
