In terms of cultivation, these plants thrive in environments that mimic their natural habitat: humid, warm, and shaded understories. They perform best in consistent temperatures ranging between 22°C and 26°C, as they are not frost-tolerant.

The soil requirement is specific; Burretiokentia needs a well-draining, slightly acidic mix. A blend of peat moss, perlite, and pine bark is ideal to ensure that roots receive oxygen while retaining enough moisture for healthy development.

Proper light management is critical. While they prefer filtered sunlight, they can tolerate deeper shade as they mature. Intense direct sun exposure can lead to leaf bleaching and structural damage to the fragile leaflets.

Humidity is the most important factor in maintenance. If the air is too dry, the tips of the fronds will turn brown. Regular misting or the use of pebble trays with water is recommended to keep the ambient humidity above 60%.

Spider mites are a common threat, especially in indoor settings with low ventilation. These tiny pests thrive in dry conditions and can cause significant damage to the fronds, appearing as yellow stippling on the leaves.

Mealybugs can cluster in the axils of the leaves, hiding from view and extracting sap. If detected, they should be manually removed with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab before they lead to severe sap depletion.

Root rot is the most lethal condition for Burretiokentia, usually caused by overwatering or poor drainage. Once the roots begin to decay, the palm loses its ability to absorb water, leading to yellowing leaves and eventual collapse.

Fungal leaf spot diseases can occur if the foliage is kept wet for too long without adequate airflow. Keeping the leaves dry and ensuring good air circulation around the crown helps prevent these infections.

Nutrient deficiencies, specifically magnesium and potassium, can manifest as chlorosis or necrosis on older fronds. A balanced, slow-release fertilizer designed specifically for palm species should be applied sparingly during the growing season.
