Yuzovska

Yuzovska — this is a winter soft wheat variety developed by the Donetsk DSDDC NAAN and included in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2018 for steppe regions. The variety is characterized by medium-height and medium-maturing form with a vegetation period ranging from 253 to 275 days. Plant height is 78–83 cm, stems are straw-yellow, thick, strong, and moderately filled. Grain is red, egg-shaped, and medium-sized, with 1000-grain weight varying from 42.1 to 44 grams. Yuzovska wheat exhibits high winter hardiness (8–9 points) and disease resistance at level 8–9, ensuring stable yields. Yield reaches 10.7 tons per hectare. The grain contains 13.3–14.0% protein and 27.6–29.2% gluten, providing good baking properties. Flour strength is 280–300 arbitrary units, and bread volume reaches 1000 ml, indicating high product quality. The Yuzovska variety withstands frost and drought well, possesses resistance to lodging, shattering, and certain pests. Thanks to these characteristics, along with improved agronomic traits, it is suitable for cultivation on various agrofond types in steppe regions. High productivity and stable yield make this variety a promising choice for grain production.
