Wheat Yaroslavna

Working with "Yaroslavna" Wheat

When selecting seed material for farms operating in challenging climates, "Yaroslavna" from NVF Driada, Ltd. often becomes the benchmark for reliability.

Field Performance

A plant height of 90–100 cm makes harvesting efficient and straightforward—combines run smoothly with minimal grain loss. Notably, this is an awnless variety, which significantly simplifies threshing and cleaning processes. A thousand-kernel weight of 40–45 grams indicates excellent grain development, which directly impacts marketability.

Crop Health

For an operator, the biggest advantage is spending less time with a sprayer. "Yaroslavna" demonstrates strong natural defense mechanisms. The variety shows high resistance to root rot, leaf rust, and septoria. In humid seasons, when neighboring fields struggle with mycospharella blight or fusarium, these crops remain consistently green. Its resistance to powdery mildew helps save significantly on fungicide costs, effectively lowering the cost per ton of production.

Winter Hardiness and Potential

Despite being a spring variety, it exhibits remarkable winter hardiness (rated 8–9 points). This provides a safety net for early sowing if unexpected cold snaps hit young sprouts. When managed with proper technology, a yield potential of 7–8 tons per hectare is not just a catalogue figure, but a realistic outcome achieved through uniform growth and the variety's high adaptability to Ukrainian soil conditions.
