Description Venera
Winter wheat variety Venera is a moderately vigorous, medium-height soft wheat with medium maturity. The vegetation period ranges from 226 to 269 days, making it a medium-maturing variety, ripening several days later than the standard Don 95. Plants reach heights from 77 to 111 cm, have a semi-erect habit, and bear medium-density, medium-length pyramidal ears. The 1000-grain weight varies from 36 to 47 grams, with colored kernels. The straw is moderately erect, and the waxy coating on the ear and flag leaf sheath is absent or very weakly expressed. The variety shows high resistance to lodging, shattering, and salinity, and has good winter hardiness, comparable to the standard Don 95, and drought tolerance at the same level. Venera demonstrates good baking qualities, making it attractive for agricultural production. The average yield in the region is approximately 48.2 centners per hectare. The variety is moderately resistant to brown rust, but susceptible to septoria and stem rust, requiring attention in plant disease management. The ear is characterized by short or medium-length awns, weak pubescence on the upper segment of the rachis, and an elevated broad shoulder, which affects its morphological features and adaptation to cultivation conditions. Variety Venera is recommended for cultivation in various regions with moderate climates, where resistance to adverse factors and stable yields are important. Due to its characteristics, it is suitable for intensive agriculture and provides high-quality grain for the baking industry. The variety’s features allow its use in conditions requiring resistance to lodging and soil salinity, expanding its application possibilities and increasing the economic efficiency of cultivation.
